June CEU: The Art of the Therapeutic Relationship (2 CEUS)
In this presentation, Dr. Cherwien Hoel will discuss the power of the therapeutic relationship. The importance of building a strong rapport with clients is a well-established and vital common factor in research. In this presentation, we will go into depth on the nuanced ways in which this relationship can produce meaningful change. This includes looking at the vital elements within a solid working alliance and the ways in which the relationship may help to facilitate connection and change as treatment progresses. Finally, the presentation will discuss ways to navigate rupture and repair and the importance of attuning to self-of-the therapist in this work.
Learning Objectives for the Training:
1) Identify the empirical support of the therapeutic relationship.2) Name important elements of an effective therapeutic relationship.3) Participants will be able to identify important elements of the therapeutic relationship throughout the course of treatment. 4) Participants will identify ways in which to manage ruptures in the therapeutic relationship.
